This game was instantly named the ''Blizzard Bowl,'' and with good reason. Consider only that the Ohio Stadium had tens of thousands of empty seats for its biggest rival, in the biggest game of the year, with the Big Nine title at stake, and you might begin to understand that if anything, the term was an understatement. With all the frozen marbles on the line, the Wolverines managed to mush together three field goals, and that combined with a lot of defensive backup from Mother Nature was all that they needed to wrap up yet another return to the Rose Bowl---where they shocked unbeaten California by 14 to 0 and returned to Ann Arbor as once again the Champions of the West.
